2018 Meeting Dates

Upcoming 2018 Meetings will be held at the White Settlement Senior Center, 8211 White Settlement Road.
Meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. with a short business session, followed by a guest speaker or program, refreshments and conclusion about 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
 
Memberships are available for $10 Annual Individual and $15 Annual Family. Your application for membership will be voted on at the next Historical Society meeting.

The upcoming March, May, September and December 2018 Meetings will be held at the White Settlement Senior Center, 8211 White Settlement Road.
Meetings begin at 1:30 p.m. with a short business session, followed by a guest speaker or program, refreshments and conclusion about 3:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Saturday March 24: Speaker: Jim Hodgson, Executive Director of the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, on "How the First World War Changed Texas with a power point presentation

Saturday, May 19: 43rd Annual Meeting and Election of Officers
A short business meeting will be held first to discuss Society matters. New officers for 2018-19 will be elected. Our current president Jimmy Weaver will be standing down.
Membership dues help fund our membership affiliated annual Brewer High School Graduate $500 Scholarship. One member has proposed the name of an eligible graduate candidate to vote on during the meeting. Guest Speaker: Tyler Alberts, Director of the Fort Worth Military Museum, will give a Presentation on "Camp Bowie 1917-19", the military post that was located here in Fort Worth.

Saturday, September 22 A short business meeting will be held first to discuss Society matters. Our new Society President Jo Ann Grammer will lead us through the agenda. Refreshments will be provided. Guest Speaker: Wes Culwell, a Board-Certified Master Arborist and Landscape Horticulturist and owner-operator of Horticare, will give a Power Point presentation on the Civilian Conservation Corps, the CCC established in the early days of Franklin D. Roosevelt's 1933 term, part of his "New Deal" Program followiing the Great Depression. The CCC was especially active in and around Lake Worth - CCC Camp 1816 - from May 1934 - December 1937.

Saturday, December 8: Christmas Party and Meeting A short business meeting will be held first to discuss Society matters. This will be followed by the singing of Christmas Carols and Songs. Next comes the ever-popular White Elephant Gift Exchange game where participants, drawing lots to determine the order of play, select from a collection of anonymously brown paper bagged, boxed or gift bag-wrapped gifts until all are chosen or "stolen" or recovered from those playing the game. Holiday refreshments will be served.
